Mike Quarress has been committed to the field of Mental Health and Addictions for over 20 years including residential inpatient and outpatient treatment settings and currently in private practice serving individuals, family’s and couples struggling with a spectrum of Mental Health issues including addiction and trauma while specializing in attachment injury. As a CSAT-S and CPTT-S, Mike specializes in the assessment and treatment of Sex Addiction, Porn Addiction and Love Addiction as well as trauma informed therapy for partners struggling with Betrayal Trauma and was the clinical developer and lead of a 42 day Recovery Zone Task Model residential program specific to the treatment of Compulsive Sexual Behaviours. Mike also treats those struggling with Substance Use Disorders that interact with Sex Addiction and uses an Addiction Interaction Disorder lens when assessing multiple addictions and how they interact, reinforce and become part of one another. Mike also has undergone specialized training through AFFIRM to integrate identity affirmation with cognitive-behavioural interventions geared towards reducing depression and enhancing coping skills, while validating the strengths of individuals in the 2SLGBTQI+ community. Mike uses a number of treatment modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Mike brings his own personal experience, knowledge and passion into the work he executes utilizing credentials as a Clinician at the Masters Level, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Supervisor and Certified Partner Trauma Therapist Supervisor with the International Institute for Trauma and Addictions Professionals. Mike is a professional member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health. Mike is also a Certified Canadian Addiction Counsellor, Canadian Clinical Supervisor Addiction Counsellor and Canadian Problem Gambling Counsellor through the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation as well as a Accelerated Resolution Therapy Clinician with the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
